Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with SEMH, autism, trauma and challenging behaviours. The role focuses on safeguarding, building trust, and helping pupils engage with learning.

You will work closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals, providing 1:1 and small-group support to develop academic and emotional skills in a specialist setting.

Qualifications

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, autism or behavioural needs.
• Patient, compassionate and emotionally resilient.
• Can remain calm and consistent in difficult situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Support pupils with SEMH, autism and trauma-related needs.
• Help pupils regulate emotions and develop coping strategies.
• Build trusting, respectful relationships while maintaining boundaries.
• Support positive behaviour and follow individual plans.
• Help pupils access learning and participate in school life.
• Use a calm, patient, consistent approach to challenging behaviour.
• Work with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
• Maintain safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and social development.
