Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a patient SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with SEMH, trauma, anxiety and autism in a caring, trauma-informed setting. You will provide nurturing, consistent support to help children feel safe, understood, valued and able to learn.

The role includes one-to-one and small-group support, promoting emotional regulation and helping children access learning in ways that suit them, while building confidence and independent learning skills.

Qualifications

  • Has experience supporting children with SEN, SEMH, autism, anxiety or trauma.
  • Calm, patient and emotionally resilient.
  • Understands behaviour as a form of communication.
  • Can build trusting relationships with children who may struggle with anxiety or regulate emotions.

Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant - SEMH, Trauma, Anxiety & Autism

We are looking for a caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, trauma, anxiety and autism.

The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for helping children feel safe, understood, valued and able to learn. You will provide nurturing, consistent support while helping children develop their confidence, emotional wellbeing, independence and engagement in learning.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience supporting children with SEN, SEMH, autism, anxiety or trauma.
  • Is calm, patient and emotionally resilient.
  • Understands that behaviour can be a form of communication.
  • Can build trusting relationships with children who may struggle with anxiety or emotional regulation.
  • Uses a trauma-informed, child-centred approach.
  • Can work positively with teachers, families and other professionals.
  • Is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
The role will include:
