Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11-19 with a range of SEND needs at a specialist school in Barnet, North London. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils develop communication, independence and social skills within a nurturing team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Experience with autism, SLD, complex needs or communication difficulties is desirable.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Confident working as part of a wider team.
• Resilience and positivity in challenging situations.
• Passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
• Formal SEN qualification not required.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with a range of complex SEND needs.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support both inside and outside the classroom.
• Helping pupils develop their communication, independence and social skills.
• Supporting with personalised learning and differentiated activities.
• Using visual supports and communication strategies where appropriate.
• Working closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour when required.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Potential involvement with personal care depending on the needs of the class.
