A leading education support organization is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a school in Leeds, focusing on aiding pupils with speech and language skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate, experienced, and ready to create a supportive learning environment, using techniques like PECs and Makaton. We have an exciting position to work as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a Leeds school, assisting pupils with Speech and Language. The role is to join a school in September and assist pupils who are developing speech and language skills. Some pupils may also have Autism and learning disabilities. We are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who can work long term and full time, however we will also consider part time applicants.
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will be a passionate graduate who has previous experience supporting children or adults with SEN.
You will be working with pupils who have challenges communicating using speech sounds, you will be given guidance from the Teacher and Speech therapist. You will be expected to use PECs and also Makaton as alternative communication techniques.
Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of young people. You will be expected to work as a team with the other TAs to provide a nurturing and safe learning environment.
Attributes required for the role:
-Experience with Speech and Language.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
