Job summary

Randstad Education in Bodmin is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with SEMH needs and to work across classroom and community-based settings. The role involves mentoring, safeguarding, and collaborative progress tracking.

The position offers term-time consistency with long-term contract potential and requires a current DBS or willingness to obtain one. This is a full-time, on-site role from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Youth Worker.
• Demonstrated commitment to supporting students with SEN, SEMH, ASD, or disaffected behaviours.
• Capacity to work full-time hours (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday).
• Current Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support for students with SEMH needs to foster confidence and academic stability.
• Facilitate community-based learning by accompanying students on educational visits and life-skills projects.
• Deliver 1:1 and small group mentoring aligned with EHCP targets.
• Employ positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies to manage classroom dynamics.
• Collaborate with educational specialists to monitor and document student progress.
