Job summary

Randstad Education in Bodmin is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or Youth Support Worker to join a supportive educational environment focused on re-engaging young people with their learning journey.

The role combines classroom support with community-based activities, including 1:1 and small group mentoring, SEMH/ASD support, and collaboration with specialists to monitor progress. You will work 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term-time with DBS update service.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Youth Worker.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting students with SEN, SEMH, ASD, or disaffected behaviours.
  • Capacity to work full-time hours (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday).
  • Current Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group mentoring aligned with individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.

  • Employ positive reinforcement and professional de-escalation strategies to manage classroom dynamics effectively.

  • Collaborate closely with educational specialists to monitor and document student progress.
