Job summary

Teach Now is seeking a resilient, empathetic and relationship-focused SEN Teaching Assistant with SEMH experience to support primary-aged pupils in Camden.

This role is about more than helping with academic work. You will help pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) develop confidence, regulate emotions, engage positively with learning and build secure relationships with the adults around them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Build consistent, positive and professional relationships with pupils.
  • Help children regulate emotions and re-engage with learning.
  • Support individual behaviour and learning plans.
  • Reinforce boundaries and positive behaviour consistently.
  • Identify triggers and communicate observations to teaching and SEN staff.
  • Support pupils academically while recognising the emotional barriers that may affect learning.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional needs.
  • A calm and emotionally resilient approach.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
  • Team Teach or relevant behaviour-support training is advantageous but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
