Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school in the Sherwood area of Nottingham from September 2026. The role is full-time, long-term temporary, with weekly pay at £110-£125 per day.

You will support pupils across KS1 and KS2 with SEND, delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions, adapting activities, and working with EHCPs. The school values consistency, patience and strong relationships to help pupils engage and progress.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND – essential.
  • Experience in a primary school or similar educational setting.
  • Understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH or Speech & Language difficulties.
  • Confident delivering both 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Experience with EHCPs or individual support plans desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Calm and consistent when supporting children who may become dysregulated.
  • Proactive, resilient and able to use initiative.
  • Genuine commitment to helping pupils make progress.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND across KS1 and KS2.
  • Support children with needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH or Speech & Language difficulties.
  • Follow strategies outlined within EHCPs and individual support plans.
  • Adapt classroom activities and resources to make learning accessible.
  • Deliver targeted academic, communication and social interventions.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Use clear routines, boundaries and positive reinforcement to encourage engagement.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and the SENCo.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff and external professionals where required.
