Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with PMLD and complex needs at a specialist school in Rochdale. You will work with teachers, therapists and support staff to meet pupils’ physical, medical and educational needs in a caring environment.

The role requires full-time availability, a commitment to safeguarding, and a compassionate, patient approach. Weekly pay ranges based on experience, with ongoing development support from Aspire People.

Qualifications

  • Essential Requirements: Full-time availability, Monday to Friday.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English.
  • Willingness to complete safeguarding and pre-employment checks.
  • Genuine commitment to supporting pupils with complex needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs within the classroom and around the school.
  • Assist with personal care while promoting dignity, privacy and independence.
  • Support pupils with feeding programmes, including PEG feeding where required and following appropriate training.
  • Assist with moving and handling procedures using specialist equipment.
  • Support pupils who require hoisting, positioning and mobility assistance.
  • Deliver sensory learning activities under the guidance of teaching and therapy staff.
  • Help pupils access communication systems and personalised learning activities.
  • Monitor pupil wellbeing and report concerns appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to a safe, positive and inclusive school environment.
