Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Rochdale. This full-time role supports children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism and communication difficulties, within a nurturing environment.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, following individual learning and behaviour plans, using visual supports and routines to help pupils access a personalised curriculum and achieve EHCP outcomes.

SEND Teaching Assistant - Rochdale

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

Pay: 92.56 to 120 per day (dependent on experience)

Aspire People is working with a specialist SEN school in Rochdale to recruit a committed and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, sensory processing needs and complex learning needs.

The school provides a structured and nurturing environment where pupils receive tailored support to help them develop academically, socially and emotionally. Small class sizes and high staff-to-pupil ratios enable staff to deliver personalised support throughout the school day.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other specialist staff to support pupils with varying levels of need. Some pupils require assistance with communication and social interaction, whilst others may need support managing sensory needs, emotional regulation or engagement with learning.

You will play a key role in helping pupils access a personalised curriculum, encouraging independence and supporting them to achieve their individual EHCP outcomes.

No two days are the same, and the successful candidate must be adaptable, patient and confident working within a specialist environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • A good understanding of autism and associated needs
  • Confidence supporting pupils with communication and behavioural challenges

  • A genuine commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs
Essential Requirements
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND
  • Team Teach training or similar de-escalation/positive handling training
  • Full-time availability, Monday to Friday
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Willingness to complete safeguarding and recruitment checks
