Aspire People is recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant in a specialist school in Rochdale to support pupils with PMLD and complex needs.

You will work alongside teachers, therapists and support staff to help pupils access education while meeting medical and emotional needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs within the classroom and around the school.
  • Assist with personal care while promoting dignity, privacy and independence.
  • Support with feeding programmes, including PEG feeding where trained.
  • Assist with moving and handling using specialist equipment.
  • Support with hoisting, positioning and mobility assistance.
  • Deliver sensory learning activities under guidance of teaching and therapy staff.
  • Help pupils access communication systems and personalised learning activities.
  • Monitor pupil wellbeing and report concerns to the team.
  • Work with teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals as part of the education plan.
  • Contribute to a safe, positive and inclusive school environment.

SEN Teaching Assistant (PMLD and Complex Needs) - Rochdale

Aspire People is recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Rochdale for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and complex additional needs.

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected specialist setting supporting children and young people with a diverse range of learning, physical, sensory and medical needs. The school is committed to providing a personalised and engaging education that enables pupils to develop communication, independence and life skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

This is a highly rewarding role that combines learning support with complex care responsibilities. You will work alongside teachers, therapists and specialist support staff to help pupils access their education while ensuring their physical, medical and emotional needs are met.

Many pupils require significant adult support throughout the day, and the successful candidate must be comfortable providing practical assistance in a respectful and dignified manner. Building positive relationships with pupils and understanding their individual communication methods will be a key part of the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs within the classroom and around the school

Essential Requirements
