Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with SEMH, autism, ADHD and trauma in a specialist setting at Stottesdon. The role runs 08:30–16:30 and is full-time, with a focus on building confidence, emotional regulation and positive relationships.

You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to create a safe, nurturing learning environment and help students develop independence and personal growth.

Qualifications

• Patient, resilient and compassionate.
• Calm and confident when supporting children experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties.
• Understanding of neurodiversity and the different ways children communicate and learn.
• Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.
• A good team player with excellent communication skills.
• Previous experience working with children with SEMH, autism, ADHD or trauma is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Support children with SEMH, autism, ADHD and trauma/attachment-related needs.
• Help pupils manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children.
• Support pupils with their learning, behaviour and personal development.
• Use calm, consistent and nurturing approaches when responding to challenging behaviour.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to support individual needs.
• Contribute to a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
