Job summary

Penny Tree School in Birmingham is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. You will support pupils with additional needs under guidance from teachers and specialists, delivering targeted activities in a nurturing setting.

Starting October 2026, the role is in a permanent capacity with 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Salary £22,160.62 per annum, with term-time options and DBS checks as part of safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Caring, patient and adaptable to support pupils with SEND.
• Willingness to train and develop in specialist education.
• Ability to connect with young people in a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support to pupils.
• Build positive relationships to help pupils feel safe and ready to learn.
• Support teachers with engaging, personalised activities.
• Encourage development of confidence, communication and social skills.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Help plan and deliver individualised activities and strategies.
• Work with therapists and professionals to provide consistent support.
• Ensure a safe, inclusive environment where every pupil can succeed.
• Provide personal care and support where required.
