Aspire People is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children and young people aged 2 to 21 with a range of complex needs in Yardley, Birmingham. You will work in a specialist setting, providing tailored assistance in classrooms and targeted interventions to promote inclusion and learning.

Key duties include supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH, and learning disabilities, implementing behaviour strategies, and helping develop social skills and independence.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months experience working with children or young people with SEMH, autism, or behavioural needs in a SEND classroom.
  • Team Teach/MAPA/CPI Interventions - must hold an in date certificate
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to supporting challenging behaviours
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive, flexible mindset and a genuine desire to support vulnerable young people.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to pupils with ASD, MLD and complex needs, both in the classroom and through targeted interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Support the development of social skills, confidence, and independence in young learners.
  • Providing personal care and support for students with learning/physical disabilities.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Supporting SEN Students in Yardley

Location: Yardley, Birmingham

Hours: Full-time/Part-time

Contract: Long-term/Permanent/Temporary

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with additional needs? We are looking for a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support children and young people aged 2 to 21 with a range of complex needs, including Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges, and alongside some learning disabilities.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive team in a specialist setting in Yardley, Birmingham where every day is different, and every small success counts.

About the Role

  • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and emotional regulation strategies.
