Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Liverpool is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs in a welcoming primary school. This is a long-term, full-time role with an immediate start and pay of £14.25–£15.50 per hour.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual strategies, build positive relationships, and support learning across the school day while fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment for every child.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to stay calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
• Genuine passion for children's development and wellbeing.
• Previous education experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated support to pupils with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Build positive relationships to support emotional wellbeing and engagement.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO on individual strategies.
• Support learning in the classroom and during less structured parts of the day.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
