Job summary

Prospect House Primary Specialist School is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant Level 1 SEN to join their team in Higher Blackley, North Manchester. The role supports students with complex needs, working under teacher supervision to enable access to learning and promote independence.

The successful candidate will have Level 2 or equivalent, strong numeracy and literacy, and a collaborative approach. Fixed-term until Aug 31, 2027, with a permanent option and term-time hours plus INSET days.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the Teaching Assistant role and how to support learning.
• Basic knowledge of child development and learning.
• Commitment to professional standards and ongoing development.
• Experience with children and/or young people with communication or learning needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work with small groups under teacher supervision and implement Individual Learning Plans.
• Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to individual needs.
• Provide feedback on progress and keep records up to date.
• Supervise discreet groups of pupils when the teacher is not present.
• Promote equality of access to learning for all pupils.
• Participate in relevant training to develop learning strategies and progress.
• Support performance management and ongoing professional development.
• Communicate effectively in spoken English.
