SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Birmingham, Handsworth Wood (B21)
Pay: 395- 430 per week (take home after tax and NI)
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term
Hours: Monday to Friday, School Hours
Start Date: September

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting children with a range of additional needs in both 1:1 and group settings?

We're seeking a committed and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the B21 area of Birmingham. Starting in September, this role will involve supporting pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs (SEN), offering a combination of 1:1 and small group interventions.

About the Role:

You will play a vital role in supporting the learning and wellbeing of pupils with diverse SEN needs, including communication and interaction difficulties, social and emotional challenges, and physical or sensory needs. You'll work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver effective, inclusive support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with a range of SEN, such as ADHD, ASD, SEMH.
    Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs.
    Assist with daily routines and ensure pupils are fully engaged in learning.
    Work collaboratively with teachers and external professionals.
    Support the emotional, social, and academic development of each pupil.
    Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with a range of SEN needs.
    Confident in delivering both 1:1 and small group support.
    Strong understanding of strategies for supporting diverse learning needs.
    Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and engagement.
    Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
