Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain one).
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

Responsibilities

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

  • SEN Teaching Assistant role in: North Birmingham
  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Salary: 90- 105 per day (depending on experience)
  • Temporary Contract, ongoing position
  • Part Time Vacancy (8:30- 12:30pm, Monday to Thursday)

Are you a compassionate and caring individual looking to make a real difference in a child's life? Here at Empowering Learning, we are seeking an enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant with experience in working with Special Educational Needs (SEN) including Autism, ADHD, PDA and Dyslexia.

Our client is based in the North of Birmingham and provide a welcoming and nurturing environment, with a supportive team who provide a quality education to young children. As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you are a crucial part in helping young children thrive in their educational journey. The child you will be supporting will be in school for mornings only but this could potentially turn into full days further down the academic year.

Working as an SEN Teaching Assistant in our client's school you will:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a child with SEN, ensuring their learning, emotional, and social development needs are met
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to implement EHCP strategies and objectives
  • Adapt learning materials to suit the pupil's individual needs
  • Build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
  • Offer a nurturing, consistent presence in the classroom

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN (e.g, Autism, ADHD, PDA and Dyslexia)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills
  • A Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Equivalent
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain one)
  • A genuine passion for working with young children
  • A nurturing, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learning and development
  • Hold a Level 1 Safeguarding qualification
