Job summary

Horizon Teachers seeks a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Merton, London. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, helping their academic, social and communication development within an inclusive learning environment.

The role involves supporting pupils with needs such as ASD, ADHD and speech and language difficulties, confirming safeguarding best practices and working closely with teachers and SENCOs.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting.
• Patient, caring, proactive and enthusiastic approach.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to adapt support to individual pupil needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Support children's academic, social, emotional and communication development.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Implement individual learning strategies to meet pupils' needs.
• Support pupils with needs such as ASD, ADHD and speech and language difficulties.
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence and confidence.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other staff.
