Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Chelmsford, Essex. You will support children and young people with SEND, helping them reach their academic and personal potential in a nurturing learning environment.

Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals, you will contribute to inclusive lessons, record progress, and support safeguarding and welfare.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with SEND is preferred but not essential.
• Patient, caring, resilient and adaptable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to stay calm under pressure and respond positively to challenges.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Committed to safeguarding and welfare of children.
• Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with varied SEND including ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support per individual education plans.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Support pupils with personal care where required.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
• Record and report pupil progress and wellbeing.
