Job summary

Academics in Swindon are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with a range of additional needs, helping them build confidence, participate in lessons, and develop communication and independence. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, adapt activities, use visual resources, and collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to monitor progress and provide timely observations.

Salary is £85-£110 per day with PAYE weekly pay; roles available both full-time and part-time

Qualifications

• Patience and adaptability to work with children with diverse needs.
• Good communication skills with children, teachers and parents.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar support role is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Working directly with children on a 1:1 or small-group basis.
• Helping children understand and complete classroom activities.
• Adapting tasks and instructions so learning is accessible.
• Using visual resources and practical activities to aid learning.
• Encouraging children to communicate their needs and feelings.
• Recording and communicating observations about progress.
