Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant in Watford to support primary pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This role focuses on helping children with autism and communication needs take part in lessons, build confidence and become more independent.

You will work alongside the class teacher and SENCO, following individual support plans and adapting your approach to each pupil.

Qualifications

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils in a classroom setting.
• Use visual timetables and clear instructions to support learning.
• Record progress toward Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes and share observations.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support with classroom activities and transitions.
• Use visual timetables, clear instructions and practical resources to make learning accessible.
• Reinforce early literacy, numeracy and communication skills through teacher-led activities.
• Support emotional regulation and sensory needs using agreed strategies.
• Record progress towards EHCP outcomes and share observations with staff.
