Job summary

Westcourt is a happy, caring school where the success of every child matters. Gravesend-based, we seek a Teaching Assistant to work with Teachers to support pupils from Nursery to Year 6, including those with SEND and other vulnerable groups.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, help pupils become confident learners, support reading, and assist with behaviour and emotional development. Strong communication and organisational skills are key.

Qualifications

• Experience providing 1:1 and small-group support in a primary setting.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or higher or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and ability to build relationships with children, parents and carers.
• Willingness to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group pupil support to stay focused and engaged.
• Explain tasks and break them into manageable steps for learners.
• Support reading by listening and reading aloud to children.
• Promote positive behaviour and respond calmly to challenges.
• Offer emotional support for social and emotional development.
• Identify pupils needing extra help and adapt activities accordingly.
• Prepare classrooms and resources; create displays celebrating work.
