Job summary

Empowering Learning in Bolton seeks a dedicated Children's Support Worker to provide tailored support for students with special educational needs in a classroom setting. You will work one-to-one and in small groups, assisting with learning and behaviour plans alongside teachers and the SENCO.

The role focuses on promoting independence, social and emotional development, and inclusivity within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and young people with SEND in school or care settings.
  • Calm, patient, nurturing approach to supporting students with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work with staff, parents and external agencies.
  • Flexibility, resilience and commitment to making a positive impact on students' lives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning and behaviour support plans with SENCO/teaching staff.
  • Monitor progress and maintain records; update teachers and parents.
  • Foster positive relationships and promote social and emotional development.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs as required.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive learning environment in line with school policies.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and reviews.
  • Liaise with external agencies to ensure appropriate student support.
