Job Description:

Prospero Teaching is working with a dedicated and nurturing Special Educational Needs (SEN) school that provides high-quality education and care to students with complex needs. Our pupils, ranging from early years to post-16, include those with severe learning difficulties, autism, and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

The Role:

The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will be compassionate, dedicated, and resilient, and available to start from January 2025 or sooner. You will work closely with teaching staff to support students' academic, social, and personal development, ensuring they receive tailored support to thrive.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting individual students or small groups with a range of SEN, including complex needs and PMLD.
  • Assisting with classroom activities, ensuring engagement and progress towards personalized goals.
  • Providing emotional and behavioral support, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement specific learning and behavioral strategies.
  • Assisting with personal care needs as required, ensuring student comfort and well-being.
  • Keeping records of students’ progress, supporting assessments, and contributing to reports and reviews.

About You:

We seek an individual who is:

  • Experienced or passionate about working with students with complex needs, including autism and PMLD.
  • Patient, empathetic, and capable of building trusting relationships with students.
  • Flexible and adaptable to each student’s needs.
  • Effective team player, collaborating with other professionals.
  • Enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of children with SEN.
  • A strong communicator with students and staff.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in an SEN setting.
  • Relevant qualification such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Support Worker, or Psychology qualification.
  • Knowledge of autism and PMLD.
