Job summary

Engage Education in Bromley is seeking compassionate PMLD Teaching Assistants for an urgent start in a highly supportive specialist setting. The role supports pupils aged 4–19 with complex needs, providing tailored 1:1 and small-group assistance, life skills, and personal care where needed.

You will collaborate with teachers, therapists, nurses and staff to create a nurturing, structured learning environment and help pupils progress towards independence and communication goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting young people with SEND, ASC, PMLD or complex needs.
  • Patient, empathetic and passionate about inclusive education.
  • Able to build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Comfortable supporting personal care and physical needs (desirable).
  • Experience in care, youth work, support work, theatre in education, or specialist SEND settings (desirable).
  • Work well within structured, multidisciplinary environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support.

  • Support personal care, mobility, feeding and sensory-based learning where required.

Job description

PMLD Teaching Assistant – Specialist All Through Setting

We are currently working with a highly supportive specialist setting in Bromley that is urgently seeking compassionate and proactive Teaching Assistants to start immediately. The school caters for pupils aged 4 –19 with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties, including autism spectrum conditions, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and medical needs.

The setting is recognised for its child-centred ethos, specialist facilities, therapeutic provision, and commitment to helping every pupil develop independence, communication, and life skills through highly personalised learning experiences.

About the Role

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Physical disabilities and sensory impairments
  • Complex communication and medical needs
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support
  • Assist students with life skills, independence, and engagement in learning activities
  • Support personal care, mobility, feeding, and sensory-based learning where required
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, nurses, and support staff
  • Help create a positive, structured, and nurturing learning environment
  • The setting is well-resourced and highly supportive, with a strong focus on personalised learning, wellbeing, and preparation for adulthood.
