Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is seeking caring SEN Learning Support Assistants to help pupils with a range of needs in Balham (SW12). Flexible supply and long-term placements are available, with support from an experienced consultant and ongoing CPD opportunities.

The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support, helping with learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing while implementing behaviour strategies in partnership with teachers and SENCOs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN in schools, care, youth work, tutoring, coaching, or similar settings.
• Patient, resilient and nurturing demeanor.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of SEN (e.g., ASC, ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language needs).
• Provide 1:1 and small group support inside and outside the classroom.
• Assist pupils with learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing.
• Help implement behaviour and support strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and professionals to support pupil progress.

The Role

• Supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and Speech & Language needs
• Providing 1:1 and small group support both inside and outside the classroom
• Assisting pupils with their learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing
• Helping to implement behaviour and support strategies
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to support pupil progress

The Ideal Candidate

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in schools, care, youth work, tutoring, coaching, or similar settings
• Is patient, resilient, and nurturing
• Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Is able to remain calm and adaptable in a variety of situations
• Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one
