Job summary

Balfor Recruitment is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Long Eaton, Nottingham, from September 2026. You will provide tailored 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEN, including those on the Autism spectrum, helping them access learning in a nurturing environment.

The role is full-time and ongoing, offering the chance to make a real difference within a dedicated SEN setting and to work closely with teachers and other professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience as SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar education support role.
• Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
• Experience providing 1:1 support within a school, specialist education or alternative provision setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism/ASC would be highly desirable.
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEN, including those with Autism (ASC).
• Support pupils with learning, emotional regulation, communication and social development.
• Help pupils manage emotions, build resilience and develop positive social skills.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson planning, differentiation and adapting activities.
