Job summary

Teach Now is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant in Harrow, London to support students with a range of needs, including Autism and speech/language challenges. The role is full-time, long-term and temporary, with September 2026 start.

You will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to implement tailored learning plans and interventions. Applicants should have prior experience in UK primary or early years settings, a calm and nurturing approach, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a UK primary or early years setting.
  • Experience working with autism, speech and language needs, or SEMH.
  • Calm, patient and nurturing approach; strong communication with pupils, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with Autism, speech and language needs, SEND, SEMH and social communication difficulties.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and personalised learning activities.
  • Use visual supports, routines and positive behaviour strategies to engage pupils.
  • Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to support learning plans.
  • Help pupils gain confidence, communication skills and independence.
  • Provide personal care if required for complex needs roles.
