Job summary

The Education Specialists are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Greater Manchester. You will work closely with teachers to provide high-quality support to pupils with additional needs throughout the school day.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, aiding pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH and complex learning needs, helping access learning, supporting communication and behaviour plans, and collaborating with therapists and the wider team.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Patient, resilient and compassionate.
  • Confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils who may have complex needs.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and complex learning needs.
  • Helping pupils access learning and participate positively in school life.
  • Supporting communication, social development and independence.
  • Implementing individual support and behaviour plans.
  • Using positive behaviour strategies to help pupils regulate and engage.
  • Supporting pupils who may display challenging or dysregulated behaviour.
  • Assisting with personal care and day-to-day needs where required.
