We are currently partnering with a variety of established Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools, alternative provisions, and specialist inclusion units near Newmarket and across the surrounding Suffolk and Cambridgeshire borders. We are seeking committed, proactive Teaching Assistants to support pupils with diverse, complex learning needs and help them thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.
This role is ideal for experienced SEN practitioners, psychology graduates looking to gain valuable field hours, or mainstream learning support assistants eager to bring their skill set into a dedicated specialist setting.
Day-to-Day Cover: Take complete control of your schedule. Choose exactly which days you want to work to seamlessly fit around your personal commitments, studies, or lifestyle. It is an excellent way to gain exposure to different specialist settings with total flexibility.
Long-Term Opportunities: If you prefer stability, we manage fixed-term assignments spanning a term or a full academic year (covering maternity leave, long-term absence, or interim gaps). This allows you to integrate fully into a local specialist team and build deep, impactful relationships with the pupils you support.
Targeted Pupil Support: Work on a 1:1 or small-group basis to support pupils with complex needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their personal developmental goals.
EHCP Assistance: Help implement individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
Promote Well-Being: Encourage positive social interactions, emotional regulation, and independence throughout the school day.
Classroom Support: Collaborate closely with the class teacher and healthcare/therapeutics staff to ensure a calm, sensory-friendly, and safe learning environment.
Proven experience supporting children or young adults with complex needs, such as ASC (Autism Spectrum Conditions), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), ADHD, or Severe/Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD).
A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to behaviour management and pupil engagement.
Familiarity with alternative communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton) or physical intervention training (e.g., Team-Teach) is highly advantageous but not essential.
A valid Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check).
