Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Luton. You will provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for learners with a range of SEND, enabling access to a differentiated curriculum and progress toward EHCP outcomes.

The role offers full-time term-time-only employment, with a daily rate of £100-£120 depending on experience, and opportunities for professional development within a supportive SEND environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable.
• Experience with autism, PMLD, SLD or communication difficulties is advantageous.
• A patient, calm and empathetic approach with the ability to build strong relationships with learners.
• Strong teamwork, communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to learners with SEND.
• Adapt activities to meet individual needs within a highly differentiated curriculum.
• Develop positive relationships and promote communication, confidence, independence and wellbeing.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities, learning resources and monitoring pupil progress.
• Support learners with EHCP outcomes and preparation for adulthood.
• Follow individual support plans and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and families to ensure consistent support.
