Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Shrewsbury (SY2). The role focuses on 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of special educational needs, including autism and communication challenges.

You will work closely with teachers and SEND staff to adapt activities, foster confidence, and help pupils access the curriculum in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, particularly with SEN/SEND.
• Patience, calmness, compassion and resilience are essential.
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships with children.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.
• Support children with SEND, autism, communication difficulties, behavioural and learning needs.
• Build positive relationships to encourage confidence, independence and engagement.
• Assist pupils inside and outside the classroom to access the curriculum.
• Assist teachers with engaging lessons and adapting activities to learning needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and support social and communication skills.
• Work with teachers, SEND staff, therapists and parents to support plans.
• Help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Encourage independence and essential life and learning skills.
