Job summary

Prospero Teaching is working with a Special Needs School in Stockport who are in need of Teaching Assistants across the school. This school supports pupils between 4 - 19 years of age.

The SEND Teaching Assistant will work 1:1 or in small groups, support learning, and assist with personal care and behaviour management, while collaborating with staff and external agencies to support development.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience working with SEN needs such as severe Autism, Complex Learning Needs and Sensory Impairments.
  • Experienced providing personal care.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • Confidence in setting boundaries and following behaviour management plans consistently.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on 1:1 and small group basis, helping them to engage in learning and regulate emotions.
  • Need to be comfortable providing personal care to pupils.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour and sometimes high-risk behaviours, using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with pupils.
  • Work closely with other staff members, SEN professionals and external agencies to support development.
