Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of needs at a specialist school in Bury St. Edmunds.

You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver individualized learning and holistic support in a caring setting. The role focuses on assisting students with SEND, including PMLD/SLD and autism, with a strong emphasis on communication, independence, and social development.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND or complex needs.
  • Patient, compassionate, and resilient approach.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with diverse learning, communication, physical, and sensory needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Genuine passion for helping every child achieve their potential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Adapt activities to meet the diverse needs of pupils.

Complex Needs Teaching Assistant | Bury St. Edmunds

We're looking for a compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Bury St. Edmunds and help pupils reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

The Role:

As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), autism, physical disabilities, and complex medical needs. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff, you will help create a positive learning environment where every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups throughout the school day.
