Job summary

GSL Education Kent is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing specialist school in Tonbridge. You will support learners aged 2 to 19 with complex needs, helping them build confidence, communication, and independence within a caring team.

The role requires safeguarding knowledge and background checks, including an enhanced DBS registered or willing to apply. Start is September 2026, with a full-time, term-time or permanent employment context.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students with communication, behaviour, personal care, and sensory needs.
  • Encouraging the development of independence and life skills.
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Tonbridge

Contract Type: Full-time

Start: September 2026

Salary: £93+ per day (depending on experience)

Want to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people? GSL Education Kent are looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing specialist school in Tonbridge.

You will support pupils aged 2 to 19 with complex needs, including autism and profound learning difficulties, helping them build confidence, communication skills, and independence in a caring and collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant include:
  • Providing 1:1 or small group support under the guidance of teaching staff
  • Assisting with the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans
  • Supporting students with communication, behaviour, personal care, and sensory needs
  • Encouraging the development of independence and life skills
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will have:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (in a school or care setting)
  • A calm, resilient, and caring attitude
