Job summary

Supply Desk Ltd. is recruiting a caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant in Steyning to support a KS2 pupil with an EHCP. The role runs during term time on Mondays and Tuesdays, 8:45am–3:15pm, 15.5 hours weekly, until 21 July 2027.

You will assist with learning, mobility and personal care, including toileting. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to help the pupil access the curriculum and develop independence, confidence and social skills.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND.
• Comfortable providing personal care, including toileting.
• Able to support a pupil with EHCP and tailored learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a KS2 pupil with additional needs.

• Support mobility and physical needs, ensuring the pupil can move safely around the school environment.
• Assist with personal and intimate care, including toileting.

• Work in line with the pupil's EHCP and individual support plans.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENDCo.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals where appropriate.
• Support lunchtime routines and supervision.

Contract Type: Temporary – Maternity Cover

Duration: Until 21st July 2027

Working Pattern: Monday and Tuesday, term time only

Hours: 15.5 hours per week (13 hours TA support + 2.5 hours lunchtime supervision)

Working Times: 8:45am – 3:15pm

Salary: Approximately £6,933.35 pro rata

Pay Grade: Grade 3 Teaching Assistant / Grade 2 Lunchtime Supervisor

About the Role

Supply Desk is working with a welcoming primary school in the Steyning area to recruit a caring and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Key Stage 2.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to a child's school experience, providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum, develop their independence and reach their full potential.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo, supporting a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan. The role will involve providing assistance with learning, physical needs and mobility, as well as personal care, including toileting.

The successful candidate will also undertake lunchtime supervision as part of the position.

• Is reliable, flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Has a genuine passion for helping children develop their learning and independence.
