SEN Teaching Assistant | Full-Time | Immediate Start | Stevenage

Are you passionate about understanding behaviour, supporting vulnerable young people, and applying your academic knowledge in a practical, meaningful way?

We're on the lookout for a compassionate, proactive, and emotionally intelligent SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic, inclusive school in the education and training sector that supports children and young people with a range of special educational needs - including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and behavioural challenges.

This is a perfect opportunity in Stevenage for a psychology or criminology graduate who's eager to gain hands-on experience in a setting where theory meets real life as a SEN Teaching Assistant. What you'll be doing:

  1. Supporting students 1:1 or in small groups with their learning, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
  2. Applying your understanding of behaviour, trauma, and developmental psychology in the classroom.
  3. Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to create a nurturing, structured environment.
  4. Building trust, setting boundaries, and becoming a positive, consistent role model.

What we're looking for:

  1. A graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or a related subject.
  2. Someone calm under pressure, empathetic, and emotionally resilient.
  3. A genuine interest in SEN, mental health, or youth support work.
  4. Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (desirable but not essential).

What you'll get in return:

  1. A unique chance to use your degree in a real-world setting.
  2. Full training and continuous professional development.
  3. Mentorship from experienced SEN professionals and psychologists.
  4. Opportunities to progress into roles like Educational Psychologist, Behaviour Mentor, SEN Teacher, or Youth Worker.
  5. A supportive, welcoming team that values fresh perspectives and big hearts.
