Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Central London
Start Date: September 2025
Salary:£90-£110 per day

Are you a nurturing, reliable, and motivated individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? If so, a warm and inclusive Church of England primary school in the heart of London is looking for someone just like you to join their team this September as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

This is your chance to make a real difference in the lives of children who need a little extra support to flourish-academically, socially, and emotionally.

Why This Could Be the Right School for You:
You’ll be joining a school where kindness, empathy, and high expectations go hand in hand. The team is proud of its inclusive ethos and strong relationships with pupils, parents, and the wider community.
You’ll love working here if:

  • You believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and celebrated.
  • You value teamwork, reflection, and professional growth.
  • You’re looking for a setting with strong leadership, supportive colleagues, and a clear focus on pupil wellbeing and progress.

What You’ll Be Doing:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping pupils with special educational needs feel secure, supported, and successful in their learning.
Your day-to-day will include:
  • Supporting pupils with EHCPs and additional needs, both in class and in small groups or one-to-one sessions.
  • Helping children build confidence, develop independence, and stay engaged in their learning.
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENDCo, and outside professionals to ensure the right strategies and resources are in place.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation through clear routines and consistent support.
  • Contributing to planning, monitoring progress, and creating a calm, positive classroom environment.

We’d Love to Hear From You If:
  • You’ve already supported children with SEN in a school setting.
  • You’re patient, caring, and adaptable, with a natural ability to build strong relationships with children.
  • You’re confident in your communication skills and happy to collaborate with others.
  • You hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, ideally at grade C/4 or above.
  • You’re committed to safeguarding and child protection, and keen to take part in ongoing training.

What Ofsted Says About the School (2023):
“Pupils are happy and enjoy school. They are polite, respectful, and behave exceptionally well. Staff know their pupils well and provide carefully considered support to help them achieve their best.”

Ready to Take the Next Step?
If you’re excited about the chance to support amazing children and become part of a passionate, tight-knit school community, we’d love to hear from you.
