Job description

Academic Appointments is currently recruiting Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Staff to work in a specialist primary school setting in South Yorkshire, supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

This welcoming and inclusive school delivers a broad, balanced, and personalised curriculum tailored to meet the individual needs of each pupil. The focus is on developing both academic and life skills in a nurturing environment.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and SEN needs
  • Experience in education or care within the last 12 months
  • Background supporting Early Years, Key Stage 1 (KS1), or Key Stage 2 (KS2) pupils
  • A passion for making a difference in young lives
  • A confident, caring, and assertive approach

  • Supporting pupils with their academic development in literacy, numeracy, creativity, and play-based learning
  • Assisting children with physical needs, including mobility support and personal care where required

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
  • Team Teach training (desirable)
  • Moving & Handling training (desirable)
  • Two satisfactory references
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
