Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support a school in Stoke on Trent. The role focuses on providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, fostering an inclusive classroom and helping learners access the curriculum.

You will work closely with teachers, SEND staff, therapists and parents to implement individual education plans and promote positive behaviour, confidence and independence in students throughout the day.

Position:SEN Teaching Assistant

Contract:Full-time, Term Time Only

Salary:£26,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
• Support children with SEND, autism, communication difficulties, behavioural needs and additional learning needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, independence and engagement.
• Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom to help them access the curriculum.
• Assist teachers with delivering engaging lessons and adapting activities to meet individual learning needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils develop their social, emotional and communication skills.
• Work closely with teachers, SEND staff, therapists and parents to support individual education and development plans.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Encourage pupils to become more independent and develop essential life and learning skills.

• Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
• Can remain positive and professional when managing challenging situations.
• Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
