Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. Rugby is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs, from October 2026. The role runs Monday to Friday, 10:00am-2:00pm, 20 hours per week, in a welcoming primary school in Rugby.

You will support academic, social and emotional development and help the pupil access learning. Join a supportive team and access CPD and SEND-focused training; enhanced DBS preferred.

Qualifications

  • Patient, caring, resilient, and adaptable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Support behaviour and emotional regulation in a calm, consistent manner.
  • Experience with children in education, care, nursery, youth work, coaching, or similar setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Genuine interest in SEN and availability to work 10:00–14:00, Mon–Fri.
  • Eligible to work in the UK and willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN.
  • Work 10:00am-2:00pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Support the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
  • Help the pupil access learning and overcome barriers to education.
  • Support communication, social interaction, independence and confidence.
  • Assist with learning activities and interventions.
  • Create a calm, positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals for consistent support.

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve their full potential? Do you want to work in a welcoming and inclusive primary school environment where you can make a genuine difference to a child's learning, confidence, and development? We are working closely with a supportive primary school in Rugby that is seeking to appoint a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from October 2026.

The Role
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs
  • Working 10:00am-2:00pm, Monday to Friday
  • Supporting the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and personal development
  • Helping the pupil access learning and overcome barriers to their education
  • Supporting communication, social interaction, independence, and confidence
  • Helping the pupil manage emotions and regulate behaviour where required
  • Assisting the class teacher with learning activities and interventions
  • Creating a calm, positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to provide consistent support
