A fantastic and welcoming Primary School in Kidderminster is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for an Autistic child in Year 4, who is transitioning from an SEN school to mainstream Primary. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is a full-time position, starting after the Easter break, and continuing on a long‑term basis until the end of the academic year. Working hours will be 8:30 am to 15:15, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider support staff to ensure the child can fully access the curriculum and develop both academically and socially within a nurturing classroom environment.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day to help the child feel safe, supported, and confident within a mainstream classroom environment.
  • Supporting communication, understanding, and engagement using autism‑appropriate strategies, such as clear language, visual supports, and structured routines.
  • Supporting access to the curriculum by adapting tasks, breaking learning into manageable steps, and reinforcing instructions as needed.
  • Encouraging the development of independence, confidence, and emotional regulation, while promoting positive inclusion with peers.
  • Supporting social interaction and play during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times such as break and lunchtime.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external professionals to ensure consistency and continuity of support.
  • Observing, monitoring, and sharing feedback on progress, challenges, and effective strategies to inform ongoing planning.
To be successful in this SEND Teaching Assistant role, you will need:
  • A minimum level 2 qualification.
  • Previous experience supporting autistic children or pupils with additional needs, ideally within a school setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, particularly during periods of transition or change.
  • A good understanding of autism, SEND, and inclusive classroom practice.
  • The ability to use structured, child‑centred strategies to support communication, learning, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with pupils, staff, and families.
  • A reliable, professional, and committed attitude, with the ability to provide consistent, long‑term support.
Working as an SEND Teaching assistant for Flourish Education also offers you excellent benefits, including:
  • £88.92 to £100.00 per day, equating to £17,339 to £19,500 per annum based on a full school year.

  • Pension Contributions
  • Free Safeguarding Level 1, Prevent and FGM training
  • KCSIE‑compliant safeguarding and prevent duty training inclusive of modules relating to legislation, FGM and abuse
  • Refer a Friend bonus scheme
  • Regular contact throughout the registration process and once you are at work
  • Your own dedicated consultant who will spend time getting to know you to ensure you are placed in schools that you will thrive in
