Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in a Peterborough mainstream school. You'll work with teachers and the SENCO to adapt activities and promote inclusive learning.

The role involves one-to-one and small group support for pupils with autism, ADHD and speech and language needs, helping them engage academically and socially, with ongoing training and guidance from a dedicated consultant.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll provide tailored support to pupils both inside and outside the classroom. You'll work closely with teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning activities, promote inclusion and help pupils achieve their individual learning goals.


Your Responsibilities


  • Support pupils with SEN on a one-to-one basis and in small groups

  • Assist children with Autism (ASC), ADHD and additional learning needs

  • Adapt learning resources to meet individual needs

  • Encourage positive behaviour and classroom participation

  • Promote communication, confidence and independence

  • Support pupils' emotional, social and academic development

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and parents where appropriate

Essential Requirements


  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN

  • Positive, caring and proactive approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Passion for inclusive education

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children


Desirable Experience


  • Previous school-based SEN experience

  • Autism (ASC), ADHD or speech and language support

  • Behaviour management experience

  • Childcare or Education qualifications

  • Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
