Justteachers are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and supportive special school in Northamptonshire. This full-time role is available for an immediate start, with shortlisting and interviews currently underway. Initially offered on a supply basis, there is potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate.

The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for a diverse group of learners, emphasising communication, behaviour, well-being, and meta-cognitive skills to prepare students for future phases. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), to access a tailored curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of the Role Include
  1. Assisting teachers in delivering personalised and engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs.
  2. Providing one-on-one and small group support to students, focusing on both academic and social development.
  3. Implementing strategies to support students with SEN, promoting positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  4. Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to develop and implement personalised education plans.
  5. Supporting students during both school-based and community-based learning activities.
  6. Assisting with classroom management and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  7. Assisting with medical and personal care needs, ensuring students' dignity and well-being are prioritised.
To Be Considered For This Role, Candidates Must Have
  1. Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with complex needs such as PMLD.
  2. A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting students.
  3. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  4. An understanding of behaviour management techniques and interventions.
  5. A relevant qualification (such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable but not essential.
  6. A full, clean driving licence, as the school's location requires reliable transport.
