Connex Education are recruiting a caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist SEND school in Mansfield. This role focuses on helping pupils access learning and develop independence, with support from experienced staff.

Candidates should hold a L2/L3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience, and be prepared to assist with personal care and moving and handling. DBS verified and local to Mansfield preferred.

Connex Education are recruiting for a caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist SEND school in Mansfield. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their personal, social and educational goals. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced teaching staff and specialist colleagues to provide personalised support for pupils with a range of complex learning needs, physical disabilities and communication requirements. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence and engage positively throughout the school day. This role requires patience, resilience and a nurturing approach, with the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and provide consistent support. Candidates must be comfortable supporting with personal care routines and moving and handling, following appropriate training and school procedures.

Role Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils across secondary and further education age ranges within a specialist SEND environment.
  • Providing one‑to‑one and small group support to help pupils access learning and achieve their individual targets.
  • Supporting pupils with complex needs, communication difficulties and physical disabilities.
  • Assisting with personal care, mobility support and moving and handling requirements where required.
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development throughout the school day.
  • Working alongside teachers and specialist staff to deliver engaging and personalised learning activities.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and participation in classroom and wider school activities.
  • Supporting communication strategies and individual learning plans.
  • Preparing resources and assisting with classroom organisation.
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment for all pupils.

Person Specification

To be considered for this role candidates must have / be able to demonstrate:

  • A L2/L3 Teaching Assistant qualification and/or exceptional relatable experience of working as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Experience of working as a teaching Assistant in a British curriculum school for a minimum of two terms.
  • Full enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Completion of the Connex Education Onboarding Process.
  • The ability to show a genuine desire and passion for working as a teaching assistant.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong rapport building skills, with pupils and with co-workers.
  • A minimum of 2 school-based references
