Job summary

Supply Desk is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in the London Colney area. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence.

We seek a nurturing, adaptable individual with experience in SEN and a calm, patient approach to behaviour management. Safeguarding training and collaboration with teachers, SENCOs and families are important.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Understanding of SEN needs and effective support strategies.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Calm, patient and consistent approach to positive behaviour management.
  • Genuine passion for education and supporting children and young people.
  • Safeguarding knowledge.
  • Experience in a primary or secondary school is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs.
  • Support pupils with needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging positively with classroom activities.
  • Develop positive and trusting relationships with pupils, supporting their confidence, self-esteem and independence.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Monitor pupil progress, engagement and wellbeing and share observations with teachers and SENCOs.
  • Adapt support strategies and learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Encourage pupils to participate fully in learning and develop greater independence.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers and external professionals.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

SEN Teaching Assistant London Colney

Location: London Colney area
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time
Pay: £85 £115 per day (dependent on experience)

Supply Desk are currently recruiting for a dedicated, patient and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in the London Colney area. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff to provide tailored support to individual pupils, helping them access the curriculum, develop their confidence and achieve positive outcomes.

We are looking for someone who is nurturing, adaptable and committed, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and create a calm, supportive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

Role Requirements:
  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs is preferred
  • Understanding of a range of SEN needs and effective support strategies
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach to positive behaviour management
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting children and young people
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding
  • Previous experience working within a primary or secondary school is desirable

We offer £100 referral fee for any successful referrals of friends or colleagues who complete five or more shifts.
