Educo Recruitment is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for a North London primary school. The role focuses on supporting pupils with special educational needs to access learning and participate in daily school routines.

You will work 1:1 or in small groups with students with SEN, ASD, ADHD and SEMH, under guidance from the teacher. The position is full-time and long-term, starting ASAP in a welcoming school environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN, ASD, ADHD, SEMH or challenging behaviour is desirable.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.

  • Help pupils remain engaged and access learning within the classroom.
  • Support teachers with the delivery of lessons and classroom activities.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to promote engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Help create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other members of the school team.
  • Support pupils during lessons, transitions, break times and other activities throughout the school day.

Salary: £100–£120 per day, depending on experience

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in North London.

The school is looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may require additional support with their learning, behaviour, communication and emotional regulation.

The Role
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Support children with needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
  • Help pupils remain engaged and access learning within the classroom.
  • Support teachers with the delivery of lessons and classroom activities.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to promote engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Help create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Have previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Ideally have experience supporting pupils with SEN, ASD, ADHD, SEMH or challenging behaviour.
  • Are patient, resilient and confident when working with pupils who may require additional support.
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Are reliable, enthusiastic and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Have a genuine passion for helping children develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Experience within a school is desirable; however, we are also interested in candidates from backgrounds such as youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, care, psychology and other child-focused roles.
