Job description

This school is seeking a patient, compassionate, and committed SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide personalised, one-to-one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to play a key role in a child’s educational journey—helping them thrive academically, emotionally, and socially within a supportive school setting. Beginning May 2025.

Duties as a SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with specific SEN needs (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech & language delay, SEMH)
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver tailored support based on the pupil's EHCP
  • Adapt classroom activities to meet the child’s individual learning needs
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Build a trusting relationship that fosters confidence, independence and progress
  • Monitor and report on the pupil’s progress and wellbeing
Ideal SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally in a 1:1 setting
  • A nurturing, patient, and empathetic nature
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to follow structured plans but also show initiative
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and child-centred practice
