Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in Harrow to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant from September 2026. This full-time role supports students with special educational needs to access learning and develop independence.

You will provide one-to-one and small group support across Key Stages 3 and 4, collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff, and help implement EHCP strategies while upholding safeguarding and inclusive practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting students with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties.
  • Previous experience in secondary school setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm, patient, nurturing approach.
  • Strong organisational skills and teamwork ability.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • Degree or relevant qualification advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs where appropriate.

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Harrow seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children or young people with additional needs and who is committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly supportive SEND department, working alongside experienced teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to provide tailored support that enables students to thrive both academically and personally.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning, build confidence, and develop independence.

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Supporting students with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs (SLCN), moderate learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that meet individual learning needs.
  • Adapting learning resources and activities to support student progress.
  • Promoting students' independence, confidence, and engagement within the classroom.
  • Implementing strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where appropriate.
  • Supporting positive behaviour management and emotional regulation.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to teachers and the SEND team.
  • Building strong relationships with students, parents/carers, and external professionals where appropriate.
  • Assisting with classroom organisation and wider school activities as required.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with safeguarding, confidentiality, and school policies.
